Justin Fulcher Champions Durability Over Speed in Public Work

“Execution over narrative. Accountability over optics. Durability over speed.” That line, posted by Justin Fulcher in a LinkedIn article about public service, sums up an approach he has carried across two very different careers.

A Philosophy Tested in Two Fields

The first test came in healthcare technology, where he launched RingMD in 2013 at 21, a platform built to link patients across Asia to physicians in places basic medical infrastructure had failed to reach. The company had to work reliably in places with spotty internet access and little tolerance for failure, since the people relying on it often had no other way to see a doctor.

That same tolerance for slow, unglamorous work followed him into government. Justin Fulcher joined the Department of Defense in early 2025 as a Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Defense, taking on acquisition reform and technology adoption inside an institution known for moving cautiously. Justin Fulcher contributed to reforms that cut software procurement timelines from years to months and helped modernize IT systems across the department, work that rarely generates headlines but often determines whether other reforms succeed.

Fulcher has been direct about why he favors that kind of work. Speaking to Charleston Digital Corridor back in 2020, he said healthcare affects everybody and that without basic access, whole regions get left behind, a comment that reads less like a slogan and more like an operating principle he has stuck with since.

His current focus on defense technology and rare-earth supply chain resilience follows the same pattern: unglamorous infrastructure work that only becomes visible when it fails. Justin Fulcher’s academic path, including a master’s degree from the Middlebury Institute and an ongoing doctorate at Johns Hopkins, suggests he intends to keep building expertise in that space rather than chasing the next headline-friendly venture.
