OSI Group Is a Global Meat Processing Company

The meat processing industry has many prominent companies that have been around for a very long time. One company that has more than a century of high quality service under their belt is OSI Group. They started out very small on the outskirts of Chicago in the early 1900s. However, they have grown quite a bit since then. They have been able to do this under the guidance of CEO Sheldon Lavin. He took over the company more than 40 years ago. Since then, he has expanded the company across the United States and around the world. They are now a leader in the meat processing field.

One of the things that sets OSI Group apart from all of the companies they compete with is the fact that they are able to keep a lot of their best employees for a very long time. They are able to do this by offering competitive wages. They also give all of their workers very good benefits that pay for a large portion of their medical and dental benefits. Sheldon Lavin knows that treating his employees right is the key to making them stick around. There are many other meat processing companies that are learning from this logic.

OSI Group started out only dealing in meat products. However, they have expanded into other types of food. The main source of their revenue is still meat products. They have done quite well in China and some of the other foreign countries they do business in. Sheldon has been very strategic in the way he determined where OSI Group would build their factories overseas. He specifically chose locations where there would be little or no competition from other meat processing companies. This allowed the company to dominate the market in those areas. This strategy is one of the key reasons why the company has grown so large.

OSI Group does not seem to be slowing down. In fact, they have plans to expand into several more foreign countries. They just need to get the permits worked out with the local governments. Then they will be able to open factories.
